Laurie Belanger LCSWR has a passion for bringing the latest trauma research and best practices with children to her community. There are 4 key ways she can offer this.
- Community Trainings (virtual & in-person)-In recent years she has been focussing on promoting cross discipline approaches and better collaboration and communication across professions that work with children. Laurie works with Pediatricians & Primary Care Providers, School Districts & Individual Educators, Adoption Agencies, Church Communities, Community Medical Centers, and other organizations looking for assistance in the area of Trauma Informed Care and Mental Health Education. An experienced Keynote Speaker for both large and small organizations, Laurie has a way of making Trauma informed material encouraging and approachable.
- TBRI Caregiver Training– Laurie is a TBRI ® Practitioner. TBRI® stands for Trust Based Relational Intervention. TBRI® is an attachment-based, evidence-based, and trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs. Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. As a TBRI® Practitioner, Laurie may be contacted to provide TBRI Caregiver Training for parents and families. You can find more information about this incredibly powerful intervention at the Karyn Purvis Institute for Child Develpment https://child.tcu.edu/#sthash.sEwrD7mo.dpbs.
- EMDR Consultation– Laurie is a Certified EMDR Therapist and EMDRIA Approved EMDR Consultant. EMDR is designated as an effective treatment by the American Psychiatric Association, the World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and many other international health agencies. This powerful psychotherapy approach has helped over an estimated two million people of all ages relieve many types of psychological distress. Laurie provides presentations to other mental health professionals, including other EMDR trained therapists, on ways in which she has incorporated complimentary trauma informed interventions like TBRI® and SSP from Unyte (Safe and Sound Protocol from Integrated Listening Systems) into EMDR therapy. This is of particular interest to therapists interested in the topics of Attachment Theory, Sensory Integration and increased Somatic Interventions in therapy, and Trauma Informed Behavioral change skills to offer families and schools.
- General Group and Individual Consultation– In 2023, Laurie decided to go ahead and own the tossed about title of Master Generalist. Therapists interested in being something of a renaissance therapist (Is it possible to know enough about a very wide variety of subjects and still be deeply skillful and integrative with them? Yes, yes it is.) may find a home here. Laurie is opening a limited number of spots for General Group and Individual Consulation. For example: Therapists interested in incorporating The SSP from Unyte (Safe and Sound Protocol) into therapy, or add in support from devices like Alpha-Stim (cranial electrotherapy stimulator) or HeartMath will find experienced help here. Finding resources that support the felt safety and healthy engagement of the client is a passion.
